Holding at the Mississauga Convention Centre, this event will be more than just an awards ceremony, it will be a celebration of resilience, innovation, and excellence.
As contained in a statement signed by Modupe Ehinlaiye, Founder, The BOND Awards 2024, “Every African who sets out on this journey carries with him or her a story of grit and determination. Dr. Chika Stacy Oriuwa’s path is a testament to this spirit. Rising above the challenges and stereotypes in the medical field, Dr. Oriuwa made history as the first Black valedictorian at the University of Toronto’s Faculty of Medicine in 2020. Her leadership and advocacy have made her a key contributor to Ontario’s Black Youth Action Plan, and her influence extends globally as a TIME Next Gen Leader. Dr. Oriuwa’s inspiring journey is symbolized by the Barbie doll created in her likeness, which aims to inspire young girls to pursue careers in medicine.
Kingsley Madu is another shining example of Black excellence. Coming from a financial system in Nigeria that does not operate on credit, Madu broke through barriers to establish Expedier Inc., a fintech startup that provides financial solutions to BIPOC communities. His company has been recognized as a top 12 Fintech by Platform Calgary. As a member of the Google for Startups Accelerator, Madu’s story is one of innovation and relentless pursuit of better opportunities for his community.”

The BOND Awards: Amplifying Stories of Resilience and Excellence of the Nigerian Diaspora in Canada
The Bond Awards is an initiative of Modupe Ehinlaiye a dual-qualified lawyer and Talk show host. Bond is an acronym for Best of Nigerians in Diaspora. Through the Bond Awards, we aim to shine a light on the extraordinary contributions of Nigerians in the diaspora, contributions that often go unrecognized.
These Awards are more than a moment of glory. They are about building a legacy that inspires future generations. They are a testament to the indomitable spirit of our people, the Nigerian people. Imagine a young Nigerian miles away from home, facing the challenges of a new culture, a new language, and often the weight of stereotypes. Yet amidst these challenges they rise, they innovate, and they excel. The bond awards are created to honor these incredible journeys and to change negative narratives and perceptions about Nigerians living abroad.
