For the people of Kosofe community and its environs, the neighbourhood was in a festive mood today with many community members bringing out their drums and cymbals in joyous ecstasy as a sheer sense of fulfillment permeated everywhere you go.
The reason for this is not far to seek: Barr. Moyosore Adedoyin Ogunlewe, the man at the helm of affairs at the council is marking his third year in office as the Executive Chairman of Kosofe Local Government.
And what better way to mark this important milestone than to showcase all he has been able to achieve thus far.
From available information, the council boss has been on a week-long projects unveiling spree as he officially unbundled over 36 roads, installation of boreholes, eight 500 KVA electricity transformers, newly completed school infrastructure, education support, care for the elderly, palliatives for the vulnerable, healthcare provisions, free shuttle buses, youths empowerment schemes, job creation, among other sundry interventions facilitated by his team in the last three years.
Addressing a motley crowd at the council secretariat with the Vice Chairman, Oluwole Sosanya, Leader of Kosofe Legislative Arm Oluloro Idowu, the Secretary to the Local Government, Hon. Fatai Gbadebo and other members of his excos, Ogunlewe assured the residents of his determination to deliver the dividends of democracy to everyone in fulfillment of his electoral promises to the people.
He said: “Three years ago, you entrusted me with the leadership of this great local government. You placed your hope, dreams, and aspirations in our hands, believing in our vision for a better Kosofe. Today, I am both humbled and proud to present to you our scorecard – a testament to our collective efforts and achievements over the past three years,” he began.
“When we assumed office in July 2021, we made a solemn promise to work tirelessly for the development and prosperity of Kosofe. We pledged to focus on key areas that would significantly improve the lives of our people – infrastructure, health, education, environmental sustainability, and economic empowerment. Today, I am pleased to report that we have made substantial progress in each of these areas.”
The lawyer said many road network projects “dot the Kosofe landscape all across Mende, Anthony, Ogudu, Ifako/Gbagada, Oworo I and II, Ojota axis and environs, with additional 11 in the works, including drainages, construction of blocks of classrooms, boreholes, primary healthcare centres,” just as he has made interventions in the primary and post-primary levels of education in the council.
Speaking separately at different foras to acknowledge the achievements of the chairman thus far, the dup of Hon. Ekundayo Alebiosu, Commissioner for Waterfront, Lagos State, the member of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Hon. Sanni Ganiyu Okanlawon, and several others described the efforts as commendable and worthy of emulation by all.
Okanlawon while lauding the chairman for handing over the newly acquired electricity transformers to the community leaders was effusive with praises for the council boss, saying what the latter had achieved thus far was indeed an accomplishment.

“I make bold to say that Ogunlewe has excelled and performed even beyond expectations. I personally want to admit that Ogunlewe has made a huge success of the mandate given to him and the party will not hesitate to grant him full support as he renews his mandate,” he said.
Speaking earlier, Chief Babatunde Olusegun, the Chairman of the Community Development Council in Kosofe applauded the chairman, noting that all the projects delivered to the people were based on a needs-analysis carried out by the chairman.
Expatiating, the CDC boss said, “The chairman wrote a letter to all the CDAs, asking them to write to him and tell him what they want in their areas. Based on this, the chairman and myself were going around the CDAs, one after the other, with their letter of request. When we got there, they asked them, what is your present need? What exactly do you need for your preference? These people said transformer. Some requests for roads. Some requested water. Some requested street lights. Those that requested for transformers are being given today.”
Also speaking on behalf of beneficiaries, Femi Ojo, Habeeb Amole lauded the commendable role played by the Council boss, even as they promised to work assiduously for him to get a second term.
While commenting on what he described as a breathe of fresh air since the advent of the Ogunlewe-led administration, Ojo said the level of people-centric projects especially the electricity transformers brought to some of the community was something that would remain very memorable for the people of the affected community most of whom have had to endure severe darkness all through the ages.
On their parts the trio of Adedayo Lawal, Supervisor for Education at Kosofe LGA, Mr. Babatunde Soneye, Education Secretary of SUBEB, Mrs. Adewunmi Feyikemi, a representative of the Head Teacher at Mosafejo Nursery and Primary school, Oworo, expressed gratitude to the council boss for gifting the school a newly constructed storey-building of 10 number blocks of classrooms, stressing that it would go a long way in encouraging enrollment and conducive learning environment among other benefits.
