No fewer than 23 Communities in 17 Local Government Areas (LGAs) of Ogun State have been paid the sum of N206 million by the Ogun State Community and Social Development Agency (OGCSDA), for the implementation of basic social infrastructure under the new phase of Ogun State COVID-19 Action Recovery Economic Stimulus (OG-CARES) programme.

OGCSDA Acting General Manager, Mr AbdulRahman Adelaja disclosed this while presenting cheques to representatives of benefitting communities in Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta. He said the N206 million was the total amount earmarked for phase 1 of the project, which includes the execution of social infrastructure, ranging from health, education, water and sanitation, stating that each of the communities would receive Nine million naira for the execution of the basic projects.

In his contributions, the Operation Manager of the Agency, Dr. Olatokunbo Osinowo urged benefitting communities to be diligent in the implementation of the projects, advising them to cooperate with the Community Project Management Committee (CPMC) and officials of the OGCSDA to achieve success.

Benefiting communities include Kajola in Ewekoro, Opo in Ifo, Soseri and Ajebo Town in Obafemi Owode, Itesi Ajabe in Odeda, Odo Otu and Idomila in Ijebu North East, Ayepe in Odogbolu, and Irolu in Ikenne Local Government Areas (LGAs).

Others are Ayila and Alo in Ogun Waterside, Ipara in Remo North, Ewujomo and Soyindo in Sagamu, Ado Odo in Ado-Odo/Ota, Afintedo and Alakuta in Imeko Afon, Ilujoda-Iboro in Yewa North, Ilobi Erinja and Ipake in Yewa South, Terelu in Ijebu East, Ifelodun Olomore in Abeokuta North and Ojowo-Odosenbadejo in Ijebu North LGAs.

Recall that the programme funded by the Federal and State Governments with the support of the World Bank began in 2021, to cushion the effect of the COVID-19 pandemic among the people, to restore the livelihood of the poor and vulnerable in society.

Speaking on behalf of the benefitting communities, Mr. Taiwo Oladele representing the Ijebu North East implementation committee, appreciated the state and federal government, as well as the World Bank for the prompt intervention, promising to be prudent while ensuring standard, proper execution and maintenance of the project.
