Nigeria’s secret police, the Department of State Services, DSS on Monday in tune with its opposition to the bail granted them by the court refused to release Amudat Babatunde ( Lady K) Abideen Shittu, Jamiu Oyetunji, and Bamidele, four of the 12 aides of Yoruba nation agitator, Sunday Igbo it arrested in Ibadan, Oyo State on 31, July.
DSS had arrested the 12 aides during a raid on the residence of Igboho residence on 31 July and put them in detention until they were granted bail on 4 August by Justice Obiora Egwuatu of Federal High Court sitting in Abuja.
But after much foot dragging, the DSS released eight of the aides on Monday.
The released eight detainees were part of the press conference addressed by their lawyer, Pelumi Olajengbesi in Abuja on Monday.
Olajengbesi however insisted that the DSS must comply fully with the order of Justice Egwuatu and released all the 12 detained aides of the separatist leader.
He insisted that the remaining four of his clients must be freed because they had been granted bail by the court.
The lawyer added that the DSS must account for the two associates of Igboho killed during the bloody raid of July 1, 2021.
DSS lawyer, Idowu Awo had told the court last week that the Service had filed a notice of appeal against the bail granted the four detainees.
The DSS had approached the court on Aug. 9 with a motion seeking to nullify the bail granted to the four in order to keep them detained for further investigation.
But the application was later withdrawn after the Service filed appeal against the bail.
The DSS claimed that the four namely: Amudat Babatunde, Abideen Shittu, Jamiu Oyetunji, and Bamidele Sunday had greater involvement in the alleged arms stockpiling charge leveled against them.
