Senator Douye Diri has been sworn in as the Governor of Bayelsa State. In the 16 December 2019 election, he was the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party.
Justice Kate, the state Chief Judge, administered the oaths of office and allegiance on Diri and the deputy governor-elect, Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo. The event took place in the Government House, the capital, Yenagoa.
