India, the biggest democracy in the world, is conducting its general election 2019. About 900 million people will be participating in this mega festival of democracy. There will be about a million polling booths across the country where people will use their fundamental rights to elect the next government. Election Commission, an autonomous constitutional body will manage this complex election process in the most transparent, free and fair manner.

The Indians living outside India are also exuberant and connected back to their country of origin for this democratic process. Indian community, living across the globe in hundreds of countries, is in itself a big constituency and current government, in the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Minister of External Affairs Ms Sushma Swaraj and Minister of State External Affairs Mr VK Singh, has excellently connected with them.

The current dispensation has been agile in their delivery right from the first day and made Indians living abroad a proud community. On the foreign relationship front this government has made tremendous progress in making meaningful win-win relationship with many countries. Last India Africa Forum Summit (IAFS) was a ground breaking which was attended by all 54 countries on the continent, is a testimony of commitment of this government under PM Modi. There are numerous such examples.

One of the main features of this government has been speed of delivery of infrastructure projects related to Road, Power, Railway and Space. ‘Swachh Bharat Mission- Sanitation Project’ has been a cornerstone of being the biggest cultural change initiative to enhance the cleanliness, eliminate open defecation and improved hygiene which has resulted in improvement in child mortality rate. Even Federal Minister of Water Resources of Nigeria has taken a leaf out of this grand initiative of India and soon Nigerian officials will study this and adopt the same in Nigerian context.
