Hot weather Cold drinks vendors make brisk business in Kaduna

The high temperate weather being experienced in Kaduna State and environs had become a blessing to cold drinks vendors who are making brisk sales.

Some of the vendors told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Friday in Kaduna that customers now rush for cold drinks to quench their thirst.

Halima Abdulkadir, a Zobo and tiger nut drink seller said she sells her drinks from home and had been making lots of sales as many people from her neighbourhood patronise her due to the hot weather.

”As you know, the hot weather makes people thirsty and makes them desire for something cold to quench that thirst; that’s why my Zobo and Kunun aya drink finishes before evening,” she explained.

Abdullahi Yusuf, a sachet water vendor said he hawks water in the market and makes enough sales adding that he sold 10 bags of sachet water in a day due to high demand.

”I make sure my pure water is very cold so as to attract customer”s, because people prefer cold water due to the heat,” he said.

Another cold drink vendor, Isah Ibrahim, who sells Fura da Nono said, the weather was favourable for his business adding that he had not gotten any left over of drink since the heat period started.

He however called on the state government to address the issue of epileptic supply of power because it is a major challenge in cold drink business.

Meanwhile, some consumers of cold drinks said they preferred their drinks cold because it served as a refreshment and a thirst quencher.

Abdullahi Muhammed, said he could take five bottles of soft drink a day adding that he doesn’t enjoy his day without cold drink.

Aisha Ahmed stated that she takes a sachet of water every three hours to keep her self rehydrated.
