Just in: INEC announces date for supplementary election in Kano, Plateau, others

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has announced that supplementary election to determiner winners in the six states where the governorship elections were declared inconclusive will be conducted on Saturday, March 23.

The states where the gubernatorial polls were declared inconclusive are:  Sokoto, Benue, Kano, Bauchi, Adamawa and Plateau states.

The gubernatorial elections which took place in the state alongside other for the other states of the country on Saturday, March 9 were declared inconclusive because the number of cancelled votes or number of voters in units where the election did not take exceeded the margin between the leading candidates and the closest challenger.     

INEC also said that supplementary elections will also hold for inconclusive state assembly elections.
