Edo State Governor, Mr. Godwin Obaseki, has congratulated the  President-elect, Muhammadu Buhari, on his election for another four-year-term in last Saturday’s presidential election.

Obaseki’s congratulatory message was contained in a statement he issued on Wednesday in Benin, by his Special Adviser on Media and Strategy, Crusoe Osagie, shortly after Buhari was declared winner of the election.

He said: “On behalf of the government and people of Edo State, I congratulate our President-elect, Muhammadu Buhari, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, on your well-deserved victory.

“I salute the renewed resolve of Nigerians to cast their ballot for uprightness and honesty, exemplified by your leadership and for endorsing the people-centred programmes of the All Progressives Congress (APC), under your guidance.”

The Governor noted that Buhari’s leadership “will provide the much-desired impetus for good governance, the ongoing war on corruption, completion of ongoing infrastructural projects and boost our new image in the comity of nations.”

Earlier, the state Deputy Governor, Philip Shaibu, had led other chieftains and supporters of the APC to celebrate the victory of President Buhari on major streets of Benin, the state capital.

Shaibu said the state government is even more reinvigorated to deliver on its promise to the people, noting that the Governor Godwin Obaseki-led government will continue to prioritise the interest of the people over all else in the state.
