Lagos-based MFM FC on Wednesday extended its winning streak with a comfortable 2-0 win over the visiting Sunshine Stars of Akure in the Match Day 10 of the abridged Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL).
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the Fidelis Ilechukwu-tutored team got the needed victory through the leading goal scorer, Kabir Adeniji’s 42nd- minute strike and the 67th minute by Micheal Ohanu’s tap in.
The win for the Olukoya Boys currently at the top of the Group A standing extended their winning streak to four.
The winning streak started with a Match Day 6 1-0 win over Wikki Tourist of Bauchi 42nd-minute lone goal win away to Remo Stars FC in Oshogbo, then the team played a 3-2 thriller with Niger Tornadoes.
The Olukoya Boys, however, stamped their authority over the visiting Sunshine Stars at the Agege Stadium to maintain a comfortable lead on the league table.
MFM FC Asistant Coach, Suleiman Obinna, told a post-match conference that the team would not relent on its efforts at getting better.
“It is good that we are getting results, but we have some jobs to do as well, for now, we are trying to see what we can do to lift the team.
“A 100 per cent home win so far is good and cheerful, but still, we are lacking in some areas which we need to adjust before the second stanza of the league begins.
“It is a normal thing at home which is to boost our morale, before we are not under any pressure from the management of the team, our target is not to relegate to the lower division.
“However, as the league is getting on the winning streak continues which is good for us,” he said.
