The National Council of State (NCS) has approved N27,000 as the new national minimum wage for Nigerian workers.

NCS comprised the president, Vice President, Senate President, Speaker of the House of Representatives, Chief Justice of Nigeria, (CJN), former presidents and and heads of state and retired Chief Judges of Nigeria

But Minister of Labour, Chris Ngige said the Federal government has agreed to pay its workers N30,000.

States, local government and the private sector are to pay N27,000 or more depending on their negotiating powers.

With the new arrangement, no tier of government or private company can pay its worker less than N27,000.

The bill to that effect is to be sent to the National Assembly at a yet to be determined date.
