Man, 20, bags 6 months imprisonment or stealing cell phones

Justice

A Minna Magistrates’ Court on Friday sentenced a 20-year-old man, Abubakar Abdullahi, to six months imprisonment for stealing three cell phones.

The Magistrate, Mrs Mariam Kings, sentenced Abdullahi after he pleaded guilty to a charge of stealing and prayed the court to temper justice with mercy.

Kings, however, gave the convict an option to pay N20, 000 as fine.

Earlier, the Police Prosecutor, Insp. Aliyu Yakubu, told the court that one Aminu Salihu and Saidu Yusuf reported the case at the Tudun Wada Police Station, Minna on Dec. 31.

Yakubu said the accused stole the three cell phones belonging to the complainants after he passed the night in their house.

He said the accused sold the phones to one Samsi, who is now at large.

The offence contravened Section 288 of the Penal Code Law.
