The Federal Government has directed the military to vacate the premises of Daily Trust and the order has been complied with.
This was revealed this evening by Mallam Garba Shehu, one of the Aso Rock spokespersons.
He added: “Issues between the military and the newspaper as they affect the coverage of the war in the Northeast will be resolved through dialogue.”
Daily Trust, on its Twitter feed today reported that soldiers had shut down its Maiduguri office and arrested its regional editor, Uthman Abubakar, and its Maiduguri reporter, Ibrahim Sawab. Worse still, soldiers are also hunting down the paper’s political editor, Hamza Idris.
