A Port Harcourt based blogger who was caught video-recording the proceedings of a Federal High Court in Port Harcourt on Tuesday December 11, during the hearing of a case between the Rivers  State’s chapter of Peoples Democratic Party, PDP and the All Progressives Congress, APC will spend two days in jail term for his action.

The incident happened in a court presided over by Justice J.K Omotosho .

Our Correspondent in Port Harcourt reports that the no sooner had the court had sat and begun proceeding in a matter filed by the PDP, asking Court to compel INEC not to recognize any candidate from the APC in Rivers State for the 2019 general elections, than a man,  Barile Normagima, was caught filming the proceedings.

Our correspondent further reports that the judge also ordered that the man be brought to court tomorrow to explain why he should not be prosecuted.

It is a standard procedure and norm that court proceedings are not recorded unless with the exceptional permission of the presiding Judge in Nigeria. It is almost forbidden for any one, including journalists to record a presiding judge or lawyers in a matter when a case is on in court.

It would be recalled that when the matter was first heard Counsel to the PDP, Ferdinand Oshoke-Orbih, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria, asked the court for accelerated hearing of the matter which was granted.

On his part, counsel to the All Progressives Congress, Emenike Ebete, said the court will determine whether the PDP has the right to seek for injunctions in an issue that concerns only the APC.
