2019: Group seeks EU assistance in sustaining peace in Nigeria

Mr Usman Idris-Etanami, Executive Director of Save Ijaw Nation Group (SING),an NGO, has appealed to the European Union (EU) to assist Nigeria in promoting peace in the 2019 elections.

Idris-Etanami made this appeal while speaking with Newsmen in Abuja on Friday.

He said that the group was visiting international organisations, especially the EU, to submit letters seeking their support for peace.

“Election is the time people come out to express their will to choose their leaders. It is not the time for people to be afraid,” he said.

Mr Olufemi Lawson, the Director Media and Strategy of the group, said that international bodies had been stakeholders in supporting Nigeria’s democracy.

He said that more of this support was needed now as the nation moved toward the 2019 general elections.

Lawson called on security agencies to be impartial during the polls
