A Chief Magistrates’ Court sitting in Gombe on Thursday ordered that a 32-year-old man, Haruna Bello, accused by the police of putting his hands down the underwear of a five-year-old be remanded in prison custody.
The police charged Bello with act of gross indecency.
Chief Magistrate Japhet Maida, who gave the order, adjourned the case until Dec. 4 for further mention.
Earlier the prosecutor, Insp Habibu Danjuma, told the court that the accused, who resides in Wuro Shiye quarters, Gombe on Nov. 8 at about 6 a.m., took a five-year-old girl to his house and molested her.
Danjuma said the offence contravened the previsions of Section 285 of the Penal Code.
