Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party in the 2019 general election claimed he was searched by security operatives on arrival at the Nnamdi Azikwe International Airport early Sunday morning.
He added that the search was aimed at intimidating him and his staff.
The PDP presidential candidate has been away in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, strategizing ahead of the beginning of campaign for the 2019 general election since he emerged the flag bearer of the leading opposition party in October.
“I arrived to Abuja this morning to a search by agents of the state, aimed at intimidating me and my staff.”
“I am committed to building a Nigeria where no citizen is intimidated by agents of state who are paid to protect them,” Atiku said of his encounter with security operatives on arrival in Nigeria on Sunday.
However, he failed to name the specific security agency involved in the search and if anything was found or taken away from the private jet he returned to the country with.
