Mr Adams Oshiomhole, the All Progressives Congress (APC) National Chairman has said that the party will continue to respect the judiciary and respect court orders.

He stated this on Friday in Abuja, while briefing newsmen on the state of affairs of the party in Rivers, Ogun and Imo states following issues arising from the party`s congresses and governorship primaries.

“As a political party, we respect the Judiciary and also appreciate that in truth and in fact, democracy is basically about the celebration of the rule of law, not the rule of might.

“As a party, we believe in the rule of law, not in the rule of man,” Oshiomhole said.

He said that it was based on this commitment that the APC was obliged to respect the rule of law and the Supreme Court ruling on its Rivers chapter primaries.

Oshiomhole noted that from the court judgment, the Supreme Court had nullified the party`s Ward, Local Government and State congresses organised by his predecessor in Rivers for failing to meet required standard.

“As a law abiding party, we have accepted the decision of the Supreme Court,” the APC national chairman said.

He said that following the court ruling, the party would call a meeting of its Rivers stakeholders to prepare them and put in place necessary machinery to conduct fresh Ward, Local Government and State Executive congresses in the state.

He also said that the fresh congresses would be done in full obedience of the judgment of the Supreme Court.

Oshiomhole, however, apologised to the court for its alleged invasion during the judgment, but said that those that invaded the court could not have been members of the APC.
