A member of the Ogun State House of Assembly representing Ijebu North 2 Constituency, Hon. Oludare Kadiri has advised Governor Ibikunle Amosun to respect the leadership of All Progressives Congress (APC) by accepting Prince Dapo Abiodun as the duly elected gubernatorial candidate of the party for the 2019 general elections.
The House of Assembly member gave this advice when speaking with journalists in Abeokuta, Ogun after receiving an award of “The Best Lawmaker of The Year” from the Prestige Newspaper.
The newspaper, which was marking its 27th year Anniversary, said the award was bestowed on the lawmaker based on his contribution to the House and improvement of welfare of journalists.
Speaking on the crisis over the choice of APC candidate, Hon. Kadiri said, “I will not accept that we have division, we don’t have division. We only have a little bit of conception and misunderstanding.
“It takes a lot for some people to accept defeat psychologically. That is why even after winning an election, somebody who lose an election will still go to court ,after losing an election, is that not psychologically wrong,?” he asked
“To me, If the Governor is doing his own thing, he felt he has a point. I would not want to comment wrongly because he is my boss. I still hold him in high esteem. At least in this situation, we are in democracy and it has to be respected. I voted for Prince Dapo Abiodun, people in my constituency vote for Dapo Abiodun, and we have to respect that the people want him to be the flag-bearer and nothing more.
“This is democracy and we have to respect that fact and the will of the people must prevail,” he added
When asked if the same thing that happened eight years ago in the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) that made the State chapter of the party to lose the gubernatorial election is not going to repeat itself in APC in 2019, he said, “It is a different thing happening, there is different between legitimacy and illegitimacy. This is a primary; I am not a member of PDP. I don’t know what happened in PDP then, but then I remember they have some rancor and I was neither part of it nor a party of it. I am a democrat, I was in ACN then, what is happening now is a family matter and I think in no time all wounds would be healed.
