Some councillors who on Monday protested at Ogun Governor’s office, Okemosan, Abeokuta in support of Governor Ibikunle Amosun’s choice of Hon. Abdulkadir Akinlade as the All Progressives Congress, APC gubernatorial candidate are now singing a new tune.
The councillors are now supporting Prince Dapo Abiodun, the billionaire businessman recognised by the National Working Committee, NWC of APC as the gubernatorial candidate of APC.
The Councillors made up of the former and serving members from the three senatorial districts of Ogun who had served at different times under the administration of Governor Amosun gave their support to the gubernatorial candidate when they converged at the Campaign Office of Prince Abiodun in Iperu Remo on Friday.
The councilors who are 272 in number were led by the PRO, South West Forum of Councilors, Hon. Wale Nurudeen Aka from Sagamu.
Speaking on behalf of the councilors, Hon. Nurudeen commended the National Working Committee of the party for the work during the primaries to ensure that the winner was declared.
He also urged the incumbent governor to allow the supremacy of the party to prevail, as he applauded the governor for the works he has done so far in the State.
But the Chancellors expressed regret over the way they were treated as members of Governor Amosun administration.
Nurudeen maintained that the governor lacks what it takes to be a governor of a state.
“He lacks the finesse to be a governor, he lies with ease and believes no man can survive without pranks and dubiousness”
He recalled how Amosun promised to construct to rural roads in each constituency before the 2015 election and prompted them to make commitment only to subject them to ridicule as he reneged on the promise.
He added that that Amosun does not respect the rule of law, saying, “how can a man who does not believe in the rule of law suddenly becomes an apostle of democracy”?
“This is a man who finds it difficult to honour or respect duly enacted laws of Ogun State House of Assembly. A man who turned the third tier of the government , the Local Government, to mere area offices.”
When asked, what prompted them to believe that Prince Dapo Abiodun will be better than Governor Amosun, he said, “Yes, the restructuring going on in the party would surely makes him and his regime better off. The party machinery in the Federation is an impetus on this directives.
They equivocally denounced what they described as “the cheap talk’ in the town which premised their annoyance and protest on non- release of their emoluments.
Our grouse against Senator Ibikunle Amosun is because he reneged on good governance, affront to party leaders and as well to the leaders of Ogun State,” Nurudeen said.
