Mr Haruna Osegba, the Nasarawa State Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, said that local government workers in the state would receive their September salaries in full.
The Commissioner, who disclosed this on Thursday, said that the full payment would bring to an end the payment of percentage salaries to the workers.
Osegba said that the decision to end the percentage payment was due to improvement in the federal allocation accruing to the state and its Internally Generated Revenue (IGR).
He explained that the percentage payment that began in November 2015 was due to shortfalls in revenue accruing to state occasioned by the economic recession the country went through that year.
According to him, the commencement of full payment was in fulfilment of government’s promise to end the percentage payment once the state’s revenue improves.
“The governor has approved the payment of full salaries for the month of September to local government employees in the state.
“Henceforth local government workers in the state will collect their full salaries while efforts is on top gear to pay them all outstandings.
“We have records of all the outstandings and government will soon clear everything,” he said.
The Commissioner thanked the workers for their patience and understanding throughout the moments of the economic downturn.
He reassured the workers of government’s continuous commitment towards improving their general welfare.
