Just in: Two Buhari’s ministers disqualified from participation in APC primaries

Abdul-Raheem Adebayo Shittu:

For failure to participate in the one year mandatory National Youth Service, NYSC programme, the All Progressives Congress had disqualified Minister of Communication, Mr. Adebayo Shittu from participating in the party’s governorship election primary scheduled for Saturday.

Shittu had indicated interest in contesting in the 2019 gubernatorial election to become the next governor of Oyo State.

Also barred by the party from participating in the primary is the Minister of Women Affairs, Aisha Alhassan, who has indicated interest in contesting for the governorship of Taraba on the APC platform

The APC screening committee did not give any reason for the failure to clear Alhassan for participation in the Taraba State gubernatorial primary, but the party indicated that the Minister of Communication was not cleared because he failed to participate in the mandatory NYSC scheme.

Mr Shittu had in reaction to revelation that he did not participate in the mandatory one year of service said he did not serve because he was elected a lawmaker after graduating from the university

But NYSC said the reason was not acceptable.
