NiMet predicts rains, thunderstorms for Sunday

The Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet) has predicted chances of rainfall and thunderstorm activities over most parts of the country on Sunday.

NiMet’s Weather Outlook by its Central Forecast Office (CFO) on Saturday, predicted cloudy morning over the central cities with thunderstorms and rains over Ilorin, Yola, Jalingo and Gombe.

It predicted scattered thunderstorms over the central western flank and cloudy over eastern flank later in the day with day and night temperatures of 26 to 33 and 15 to 26 degrees Celsius.

The agency predicted partly cloudy to Cloudy morning over the northern states with day and night temperatures of 33 to 36 and 22 to 25 degrees Celsius.

It also predicted scattered thundery activities over some parts with cloudy conditions over Maiduguri, Damaturu and Nguru later in the day.

According to NiMet, Southern states will experience thunderstorms over Owerri, Umuahia, Awka, Enugu, Abakaliki, Akure, Oshogbo, Ado, Ibadan, Shaki and Iseyin with rains over PortHarcourt, Calabar, Uyo, Eket, Ikom and Yenegoa in the morning.

“Scattered thunderstorms and moderate rains are likely over the entire region during the afternoon and evening hours with day and night temperatures of 28 to 33 and 20 to 25 degrees respectively,” NiMet predicted.
