Man, 19, docked for assault

A 19-year-oldman, Mohammed Tunde, who allegedly assaulted a man with bottle, was on Tuesday arraigned in an Ota Magistrates’ Court in Ogun.

Tunde of no fixed address, is facing a two-charge of assault and conspiracy.

The prosecutor, Sgt. Abdulkareem Mustapha, said that the accused and others still at large, committed the alleged offences on Aug. 22, at about 11.00 a. m. at Masalashi Street, Off Temidire Road, Ota.

Mustapha said that the accused and his accomplices assaulted one Yakubu Nurudeen, with a bottle that caused him deep cuts on his head.

He said that the offences contravened Sections 355 and 516 of the Criminal Code, Laws of Ogun, 2006.

The accused, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges.

The Chief Magistrate, Mr Mathew Akinyemi, granted him bail in the sum of N200,000, with two sureties in like sum.

The case was adjourned until Oct. 8 for hearing.
