A sexagenarian, Taiye Ogbonyomi, who allegedly obtained N1.3 million under false pretences, on Friday appeared before an Ebute Meta Chief Magistrates’ Court in Lagos.
Ogbonyomi, 63, is facing a three-count charge of conspiracy, fraud and stealing.
The accused, however, pleaded not guilty.
The prosecutor, Mr Cyril Ejiofor, had told the court that the accused committed the offences on June 23 in Lagos.
Ejiofor said that the accused defrauded one Dr Godknows Itamunoala on the pretext of supplying him Bonny Light Crude Oil.
The offences contravene Sections 280, 314 and 411 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015 (Amended).
The Chief Magistrate, Mr Alex Komolafe, granted the accused N100, 000 bail with two sureties in like sum.
He adjourned the case until Sept. 17 for mention.
