Man, 32, in court for theft of motorcycle

A 32-year-old man, Ojo Femi, was on Wednesday brought before an Ado-Ekiti Magistrates’ Court for alleged theft of a Bajaj motorcycle worth N75, 000.

Femi, whose address was not provided in court, is facing a charge of stealing filed against him by the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC).

The counsel to NSCDC, told the court that the accused committed the offence on Aug. 7 at Okeloye Quarters in Ilawe-Ekiti.

He alleged that the accused stole the motorcycle belonging to the complainant, Mr Amujo Kayode.

Ojo said the offence contravened Section 383 of the Criminal Law of the Federation of Nigeria, 2004.

He appealed to the court to adjourn the case to enable him study the file and assemble his witnesses.

The accused, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.

The counsel to the accused, Mr Famuagun Tijani, urged the court to grant his client bail, promising that the accused would not jump bail.

The magistrate, Mrs Modupe Afeniforo, granted the accused bail in the sum of N50, 000 with two sureties in like sum.

She then adjourned the case until Sept. 25.
