The Police said contrary to reports in the public domain, it has not received any report on the purpoted kidnapping Senator Dino Melaye.
Senator Ben Bruce had on his twitter account claimed that the Kogi West Senator was abducted on his way to Kogi State on Wednesday.
But the Force Public Relations Officer, acting DCP Jimoh Moshood, said the police has not received any complaint or report in any of its stations or divisions in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) or any other part of the country on the kidnap from the Senator or any of his family member, friend, associate or staff.
Moshood said who the attention of the Police was drawn to the report of the purported kidnap in the media however added that the police has commenced investigations into it.
He noted that, “However, the Force has commenced investigation into the purported kidnap of Senator Dino Melaye, and wish to implore any of his family members, relatives or friends who witnessed the kidnap or have information about the purported kidnap of the Senator to report the incident at the nearest police Station to assist the Police in the investigation.”
