Dr Kayode Fayemi, the candidate of All Progressives Congress, APC in the Ekiti State governorship election held on Saturday has succeeded in defeating the Peoples Democratic Party’s candidate, Professor Olusola Eleka in Irepodun-Ifelodun Local Government Area.
Incumbent governor, Ayodele Fayose is from the local government.
Reports indicate that Fayemi of the APC polled 13,869 votes to narrowly defeat the PDP which scored 11,456 votes in the results from the 11 wards of the local government collated at INEC office in Igede town.
Though Fayose won in his polling unit and ward, results from the other wards tipped the result in favour of the candidate of APC.
Meanwhile, collation of results is going on in other local government areas of the state.
