A receiving agent, Ekundayo Dotun, who allegedly damaged a plasma television set worth N300,000, was on Tuesday brought before an Ikeja Magistrates’ Court.
Dotun, who resides at Ladipo-Oshodi area of Lagos, is facing a two-count charge of conspiracy and malicious damage.
The Prosecutor, Police Insp. Benson Emuerhi told the court that the accused with others at large, committed the offences between Dec. 4 and Dec. 15, 2017 at Lakeside Logistics at Oshodi.
Emuerhi said the accused conspired and damaged the television set belonging to the complainant, Mr Folorunsho Ajayi.
The prosecutor said Ajayi contracted an agent of Lakeside Logistics in South Africa to deliver the television set through the accused,
who is a receiving agent in Nigeria.
When Ajayi received the television from the accused, he found out that it had been damaged without a satisfactory explanation by the
accused, he said.
The offences contravened Sections 350 and 411 of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State, 2015 (Revised).
The accused, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.
Chief Magistrate Olufunke Sule-Amzat granted the accused bail in the sum of N50, 000 with two sureties in like sum.
Sule-Amzat said that the sureties should be gainfully employed and should reside within the court’s jurisdiction.
In addition, the sureties should show evidence of tax payment to Lagos State Government.
She adjourned the case until Nov.19.
