The Supreme Court has upheld the appeal filed by Senate President, Bukola Saraki against the last three charges of false assets declaration filed against him at the Code of Conduct Tribunal by the Federal Government.

The Federal Government had filed 18 counts of false and anticipatory asset declaration charges against the Senate President in 2015.

However, the Code of Conduct Tribunal had dismissed the charges about two years later, a judgement which was appealed by the federal government.

The Court of Appeal partially upheld the verdict of the Code of Conduct Tribunal as it ordered the Senate President to go back to the Tribunal to defend himself against three of the charges.

But in an appeal, the Senate President asked the Supreme Court to completely free him of the charges, a request which was granted by the apex court on Friday.
