Man bags 3 months imprisonment for mischief

A Karmo Grade 1 Area Court, Abuja, on Wednesday sentenced one Gabriel Chukwu, to three months imprisonment for mischief.

The judge, Inuwa Maiwada, however, gave the convict an option to pay N5, 000 fine and warned him to be of good behaviour.

Chukwu who resides at Karmo, was convicted on a count charge of mischief, according to the News Agency of Nigeria, NAN.

The convict had admitted committing the offence and begged the court to temper justice with mercy, as he did not know what came over him.

Earlier, the prosecutor, Ifeoma Ukagha, had told the court that one Kingsley Ewona, of Gishiri village, Abuja, reported the matter at the Utako Police Station, Abuja, on June 29.

She said on that same date the complainant gave his Honda Civic car to the defendant to repair.

Ukagha said that he drove the car to an “unknown place and it was damaged.’’

During police investigation, he confessed committing the crime and begged for forgiveness.

She said the offence contravened the provisions of Section 327 of the Penal Code.
