Imam Nurudeen Abdul-Kadiri, has urged the Federal Government to improve on its policies and programmes to further lift the standard of living of Nigerians.

Abdul-Kadiri, the Chief Imam of Alhaja Sideeqat Ahmad Methods Central Mosque in Ikorodu, Lagos State, made the appeal on Friday.

He spoke with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Ikorodu after the Eid-el-Fitri prayers.

According to him, the welfare of the people should be the hallmark of governance.

He prayed that the almighty Allah would guide Nigerians the strength to accomplish their goals.

He said the government should improve on security, infrastructure, water, electricity and foods.

He said if government could accomplish these basic necessities of life for the people, poverty would become inconsequential.

“Government should do everything possible to stop those killing innocent citizens in the country by improving on security.

“One thing that will invalidate fasting is: the killing of innocent citizens. Nigerians should shun it and other vices,” Abdul-Kadiri said.

He described the 2018 fasting as a period of unity and commended the Sultan of Sokoto for carrying all Muslims in the country along.

He advised Nigerians to be steadfast and appreciate Allah always for granting them good lives.

He urged them to always pray for President Muhammadu Buhari so that God will grant him the grace to fulfill his promises to them.

Also speaking, a banker, Mr Lateef Adetoke, described the fasting period as being peaceful.

Adetoke advised Nigerians to live in unity, regardless of their tribes to enable peace reign in the country.

He urged the government to improve on employment, noting that this would reduce social vices to the barest minimum.

A businessman, Alhaji Fatai Salami, thanked Allah for making the Eid-el-Fitri a peaceful one.
