“Afghan National Army (ANA) explosive-ordnance disposal teams recovered 73 rounds of IEDs and landmine elsewhere since early Wednesday.

“They safely defused or destroyed the explosives over the period,” the ministry said in a statement.

Taliban militants and Islamic State fighters have been using IEDs to make roadside bombs and landmines for targeting security forces, but the lethal home-made weapons also inflict casualties on civilians.

The national army remains committed to secure communities and works diligently to provide security for Afghans across the country, the ministry noted. (Xinhua/NAN)
