2 in court over alleged burglary

Two men, Ikujo Sunday, 30 and Saliu Ibrahim, 26, on Monday appeared before an Abeokuta Chief Magistrates’ Court, Isabo, over alleged burglary and theft of items valued at N1.1 million.

The accused, whose addresses were not given, are facing a three-count charge of felony, burglary and stealing, according to the News Agency of Nigeria, NAN.

The prosecutor, Insp.  Eigbejiale, told the court that the accused persons committed the offences on March 31, 2018, at Combine Pick Hotel, Saraki, Adigbe, in Abeokuta.

Eigbejiale said that the accused conspired and broke into the hotel and stole a circuit camera valued at N300, 000 and HP Laptop valued at N400, 000.

Other stolen items include a Samsung television valued at N75, 000; a digital camera valued at N250, 000 and a cash of N21, 500, all valued at N1.1 million, property of Mr Sofela Coker James.

Eigbejiale said that the offences contravened Sections 516, 411 and 390 of the Criminal Laws of Ogun, 2006.

The accused persons pleaded not guilty to the offences.

The Chief Magistrate, Mrs Adeola Adelaja, granted each of the accused bail of N500, 000 with two sureties in like sum.

Adelaja adjourned the case until June 6 for hearing.
