Man, 35, in court for theft

The Police on Thursday arraigned a 35-year-old man, Izuchukwu Okorom, at a Mararaba Upper Area Court in Nasarawa State, for alleged breach of trust and theft.

Okorom, who resides at Mararaba, is facing a two-charge of criminal breach of trust and theft, the offences he denied, according to the News Agency of Nigeria, NAN.

The police prosecutor, Sgt. Hamen Donald, told the court that one Jimoh Sunday of opposite Young Shall Grow Motors, Mararaba, reported the matter at the `A’ Police Division, Mararaba, on May 20 at about 5p.m.

Donald said that the complainant alleged that the defendant deceitfully stole his staff’s Itel cellphone.

“Sometime in April 2018, the defendant entered the complainant’s shop at his above mentioned address and deceitfully borrowed the cashier’s phone to make calls, but with intention of stealing it.

“After stealing the phone, the defendant absconded to unknown destination until he was seen and arrested on May 20, 2018, “Donald told the court.

The prosecutor said the offences contravened Sections 321 and 288 of the Penal Code.

The Judge, Ibrahim Shekarau, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N50, 000 with one surety in like sum and adjourned the case until June 8 for hearing.
