The Nigeria Custom service, Ogun State Command in its resolve to stop smuggling in the state has intercepted two trucks full of 600 bags of rice each(50kg), 20 book size cannabis sativa, eight cocoanut size, half sack size of cannabis, motorcycle and two suspect in Lagos-ijebu axis of Ogun state.
The state Comptroller of Custom,Ogun Area Command, Sani J Madugu, while speaking with the newsmen in Abeokuta said: “The information given to men of custom is yielding results for the command because men of Customs in Ogun are able to intercept 1,963 bags of rice(50kg each) worth of 21,593,000,one used motorcycle that carried the cannabis and container full of rice with a special new device in Lagos-Ijebu express way in Ogun.
“We intercepted it based on information given to us and it was as we were informed,we intercept it and found 600 bags of rice, smugglers are now using new tactic and method to smuggle good into the state and we are ready for them.”
If smugglers are not tired of smuggling we will not be tired of siezing their goods.” He added
The Comptroller,confirmed that the total Duty paid Value of the siezed goods was N58,611,000
However Madugu promised to hand over the seized cannabis sativa to NDLEA Comptroller and the suspects would be charge to court
