An Ikeja Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday remanded a 19-year-old boy, Fatai Kilani in Kirikiri prison after pleading guilty to snatching an iPhone 7, valued at N500,000 in a traffic.
The Magistrate, Mr A. O. Komolafe ordered the remand of Kilani, an apprentice whose address was unknown, upon his arraignment by the Police for stealing.

Police prosecutor, Innocent Odugbo told the court that the offence was committed on March 8, at 9.00 p.m along Fagba Bus stop, Iju, a suburb of Lagos.

The prosecutor said the complainant, Mrs Abibat Banjo, was inside her car, held up in traffic, when the accused person suddenly snatched her iPhone from her.
“Immediately, the complainant got down from the car and shouted, passerby helped in apprehending the accused and the phone valued at N500, 000 was recovered from him,’’ he said.

He said the offence contravenes section 287 of the Criminal Law of Lagos state, 2015.
After the accused person pleaded guilty to the charge, the Magistrate adjourned the case until March 28 for sentencing.
