The Office of the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) has threatened to sanction four state SDGs offices for failing to conduct ICT training for youths.
Princess Adejoke Orelope-Adefulire, made the threat at the closing of a one-day Conditional Grant Scheme (CGS) Focal Persons meeting held in Kano on Thursday.
Orelope-Adefulire, represented by the Head, (CGS), Mrs Olufunlola Modupe-Olaopa, said the office had directed the defaulting state offices to refund the money disbursed to them for the training programme.
She said it was unfortunate that that out of the 36 states offices, only four failed to conduct the one-day Google training for selected youths.
“The ICT training was meant to empower about 150 youths in each state of the federation and the training was carried out between March and June 2017.
“The SSA office released the money based on the number of Local Government Areas in each state but only four states SDGs offices defaulted,” she said.
Orelope-Adefulire, who declined to mention the states, said the SSA office would not hesitate to write to the affected offices to return the money to the Federal Government coffers.
NAN reports that the CGS focal persons meeting was organised by the Office of SSA to the President on SDGs in collaboration with the Kano State Government.
The meeting was geared toward peer review and to enhance implementation of CGS projects nationwide with the aim of having value for money as well as improving the quality of lives of Nigerians. (NAN)
