Impressed by his performance, a group — Itesiwaju Ipinle Eko Vanguard — said on Tuesday that it would muster at least three million votes for Lagos State Governor, Akinwunmi Ambode, come 2019 polls.
The Chairman of the group, Mr Seyi Gbamgbade, announced this at the launch of United Christian Family Initiative (UCFI) chapter of the group in Oshodi, Lagos.
“We need three million votes for Ambode this time around in Lagos State.
“We must go out and mobilise our people to get the Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) to achieve the target,” he said.
He urged members of the group to start in earnest to achieve the set goal.
In his remarks, Pastor Israel Alagbe, the Chairman of UCFI, appealed to members who have not registered to do so and get their PVC and also mobilise others for the exercise.
Alagbe said: “Today we are gathered to celebrate the governor, who deserves our support because of his achievements.
“Gov. Ambode is working very hard because he had vowed to surprise us and he has done so.
“Members of UCFI are here to spur all the youth into action and to give our solid support for this gentlemen (Ambode) who is fulfilling his electoral promises.”
He noted that Ambode had made significant mark in the areas of security, road infrastructure, traffic control, employment opportunities, education, transportation and health, according to the News Agency of Nigeria NAN.
Mr Segun Olulade, the Chairman, Lagos State House of Assembly Committee on Health Services, who represented Gov. Ambode on the occasion, lauded the initiative of the group and for believing in the governor.
He said the administration would continue to execute projects across the state for its overall development.
He advised the people to mobilise eligible voters to register and get their PVC and also cast their vote for candidates of their choice in the forthcoming elections.
Another lawmaker, Mr Setonji David, said his constituency — Badagry State Constituency II — would also work for the governor’s re-election come 2019.
