The National chairman of Labour Party of Nigeria, Alhaji Abdulkadir Abdulsalam Paiko thisw weekend stated emphatically, while feeding questions from press men, that the Coalition for Nigeria Movement (CNM) which was recently launched by former president Olusegun Obasanjo would collapse to the favour of the party.
Alhaji Paiko who was interviewed in Abekuta the capital of Ogun state after the inauguration of the new excos of the party in the state said “the LP and 14 other political parties form a Coalition for New Nigeria last year July which was not registered but now that the former president has launched one, it would collapse into Labour party”.
“I am sure Obasanjo had LP. in mind for 2019 before he moved the coalition,” he added
“Obasanjo has right to do what he wants to do, he does not just do things he always has his reasons for doing things because he has been president for two terms so he knows when things are going wrong.”
Paiko also maintained that he never promised Owolabi faction any position in the party and that only the qualified takes post.
His words “In LP, we dont promise just like that… I never promise anyone chairmanship, you qualify, you contest, you are elected. Then, who am I to promise anybody and the people of Ogun who will be their Chairman?”
Paiko also debunked the rumour of embezzlement in the party “where have governors, senators who left PDP and APC to join the LP so where did we embezzle the money. Owolabi and his entourage are political rabble rousers and political jobbers in politics.
“Owolabi was once a member but at a point, he was nowhere to be found. I once advised him to exercise patience that he is just coming on board in the party but he is so adamant,Owolabi and Oginni are on their own.”
“Oginni is an igbo man. How can he come and rule as chairman in Ogun? Besides he was dismissed at the National Congress held in Abuja. People should disregard them”
We are ready to take over power from APC and PDP; we are everywhere.
