The Benin Monarch, Oba Ewuare II, has vowed to deal decisively with violators of native laws in the kingdom.
Oba Ewuare gave the warning Tuesday shortly after the Benin Customary Alternate Dispute Resolution Committee submitted report of the first quarter of the year.
Recall that the Monarch had set up the dispute resolution committee by a Royal Proclamation, on October 13th 2017, to help handle and resolve communal matters such as inheritance, land matters, deep family issues among others.
Chairman of the Committee and a Retired Justice of the Supreme Court, Justice Samson Uwaifo, who led other members, informed the Monarch of the refusal of respondents to honour the Committee’s invitation, a development he said hampered quick justice delivery.
Oba Ewaure disclosed that the palace will work out measures to deal decisively with those who refused to honour invitation extended to them by the committee upon summon.
He expressed satisfaction on the performance of the Justice Uwaifo-led committee, urging its members not to be deterred by the challenge, just as he assured them of his support.
