New policy on ranches: Governor Ishaku calls for support

Governor Darius Dickson Ishaku on Tuesday called for support for his administration’s new policy on the establishment of ranches in order for its benefits to be seen and enjoyed.

The Governor who made the call in Jalingo while receiving a report on measures for the control of hippopotamus in Ibi LGA of Taraba State said the policy on ranching would enable people to make a lot of money and urged them to allow the government prove this by supporting the policy.

He reiterated government’s position that the policy was meant to reduce conflict between herdsmen and farmers and noted that there is no better alternative globally to the policy on ranching.

He commended the Zimbabwean experts that submitted the report on the control of hippopotamus in the state and announced that a committee will be set up to ensure effective implementation of the recommendations.
