The Nigeria Police Force has arrested five suspects for alleged kidnapping and unlawful possession of prohibited firearms in Kaura Local Government Area of Kaduna State.
The suspects are: Bello Musa, 27,gang leader, Ibrahim Rere, 70, Musa Sani,33, Isa Aliyu, 50 and Hudu Yahaya 35.
The Force Spokesman, CSP Jimoh Moshood, disclosed this while addressing newsmen in Abuja on Wednesday.
Moshood said items recovered from them include: two locally made Dane guns; one locally made pistol; one short Dane gun and six live cartridges.
He said the suspects were arrested over the kidnapping of a nine year-old Hadiza Husseini, who they kept in the house of one of the suspects.
He said that the suspects demanded a N500, 000 ransom from the 70-year-old father of the victim.
The spokesman said that the victim was rescued on Jan. 19 by the police team after four days.
“All the suspects arrested confessed to the crime and admitted to the various roles they played in the commission of the offences.
“They will be arraigned in court on completion of investigation,“the Force spokesman said.
Moshood commended residents of communities along the Kaduna-Abuja road for their support and assistance by giving prompt information to the police on people suspected to be involved in criminal activities.
H said that the police would continue to build on the successes it achieved.
In a related development, the Nigeria Police Force has arrested John Torsso, 37, for allegedly posing as a police Inspector to dupe unsuspecting members of the public.
Moshood said items recovered from him include: fake documents to claim auctioned vehicles and N75,000.00 Proceed of Crime.
Presenting the suspect to newsmen, Moshood said that he was arrested on Oct. 20 in Katampe village in the FCT.
He said that the suspect usually took his victims to a police car park in Area 10, Garki, Abuja, to show them cars earmarked for auctioning by the police.
The spokesman said that the suspect used letters to deceive his victims that the cars were for auctioning to members of the public.
He said that the suspect would be charged to court at the completion of investigation.
He said that the police would always inform members of the public through the media whenever it would auction vehicles.
