A 32-year-old woman, Olamide Edward, who allegedly diverted and stole N23.9 million from her employers, Alhujaat International Umrah and Hajj Service, was on Monday docked before an Ebute Meta Magistrates’ Court.
Edward is standing trial on a two-count charge of conspiracy and stealing, according to the News Agency of Nigeria, NAN.
The prosecutor, E.I. Onimi, told the court that the accused committed the offences on Nov. 30, 2017 at No. 4, Shagbemi St., Jankara, Lagos Island.
Onimi said that the accused and one other person now in police custody had conspired to steal N23.9 million from the coffers of their employers, Alhujaat International Umrah and Hajj Service.
The offences contravened Sections 287 and 411 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.
She, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges preferred against her.
The Magistrate, Mrs A.S. Okubule, granted the accused bail of N2 million with two sureties in like sum.
Okubule said that the sureties should deposit N200, 000 each into the account of the court’s Chief Registrar.
She adjourned the case until March 28 for consolidation of charge sheet of the other case.
