Federal Medical Center Idi-Aba,Abeokuta had it fit to partner with the Federal University Of Agriculture Abeokuta for the creation of its University in terms of research.
The Medical Director Prof. Adewale Musa Olomu in his welcome speech at the conference hall of the hospital at Abeokuta during the courtesy visit of the Funaab Vice Chancellor said “we are making effort to make this hospital a teaching hospital, to a federal university of Medicine and Medical Science”
“The Ogun state government had given us about 170 acres of land at about 8kilometres from here so we hope to start construction on the site in few months”.
“For us to start this we need to partner with a University of research in terms of research and some sciences techniques.
Prof Musa however pleaded for their support with the creation of the University.
We don’t want to be too forward or jump into the creation of the University that was why we thought it would be better for us to partner with senior university of science.
Also we want to conduct more research on liver and breast cancer and also to get more equipment for these diseases because it kills our people more and faster than we expected. He added
The Vice Chancellor Federal University Of Agriculture Prof Phillips Kolawole Salako said” I know this Medical Center had played a lot of roles in the University and the the lives of our students”.
“Students are very difficult to manage, we don’t have any bridge with FMC.
VC also bring to the notification of the medical directors that the Former President of Nigeria Chief Olusegun Obasanjo came to visit the University few weeks ago and he talked about Orthodoxy laboratory on diabetic.
Prof. Kolawole advices that it should not be base on orthodoxy alone but they should add herbal to it.
VC Phillips also assures the medical of their partnership most especially in the Radiological aspect.
Adding that the country had gone so had in terms of medical and laboratory equipment.
He promised to partner with the medical to create the University and to help it get some equipment it would need to make it a standard and one of the best medical and science university it’s created for in the world.
