An Osun Magistrates’ Court sitting in Ile-Ife on Friday sentenced one John Kachwuku, 25, to three years’ imprisonment for assaulting a woman.
Magistrate Olalekan Ijiyode sentenced the convict after he pleaded guilty to a two-count charge of criminal code and assault.
Ijiyode sentenced the convict to three years’ imprisonment without an option of fine for not showing any sign of remorse, according to the News Agency of Nigeria, NAN.
Earlier, the prosecutor, ASP Matthew Numoipre, had told the court that Kachwuku committed the offence on Jan. 16 around 1:00 p.m., at opposite Mayfair Hotel, Ile-Ife.
“The accused assaulted one Module Bukola with intent to steal one Dell Laptop, an Infinix Hot 5 Handset, a Nokia mobile phone and cash, all valued at N195, 000, belonging to the complainant, ’’ he said.
The prosecutor said that the offences contravened Sections 383, 390 (9), 406 and 412 of the Criminal Code, Laws of Osun, 2002.
