At the launching of the security code

The National President of the Amalgamated Commercial Tricycle and Motorcycle Owners, Repairers and Ridders Association of Nigeria(ACOMORAN), Alhaji Sheu Babangida Meula, yesterday unveiled a security tracking code to partner with the security agencies to tackle terrorism, kidnapping and other crimes in Ogun State.

Alh Meula said the association through its members would assist the security agencies in “intelligence gathering” since they operate in nooks and crannies of the state.

Babangida made this known at the Association secretariate in Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital, while unveiling the identification/security code for every member of the association.

The National President said the code *735*7# would afford ACOMORAN the avenue to capture the biometric data of members operating in any part of state.

He explained further that through the code, members who commits any crime or aid criminals, could easily be tracked down to his unit where such individual operates.

“The code is for the benefit of both the riders and passengers. It was conceived by the office of the Inspector General of Police, then sent to Minister of Transportation who later routed it to the office of the Attorney General and Minister of Justice.

“We will assist in intelligent gathering, offer ourselves to be partner with security agencies in war against terrorism, we will get enlightened on how to identify terrorist and who may want to engage our members in criminal acts,” Meula said.

Also, the Commissioner of Police, Ahmed Iliyasu, who spoke at the event, revealed that 70 percent of sophisticated crimes, including bank robbery, are committed using motorcycles because it facilitate easy escape.

Iliyasu who was represented by the Police Public Relations Officer,ASP Abimbola Oyeyemi, said the new code would help the Command to fight terrorism, kidnappings, robbery and other crimes.

Also was the PRO for Traffic Compliance enforcement Corp Comrade Akintude who adviced the association to ensure they buy Crash Helmet anytime they buy motorcycle.

Earlier, the state chairman of ACOMORAN, Alh Samsudeen Apelogun, said many people commit crimes under the guise of being their members and urged the police to fish out those giving the association bad names.
