Rangers International Football Club of Enugu on Monday said the club’s 0-2 loss to hosts Akwa United FC in Uyo on Sunday would spur the players to victory in subsequent matches.

The club’s Media Officer, Norbert Okolie, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Enugu that the loss was an “unfortunate loss” which would help the club to tackle other matches.

Okolie said the club’s fans would see a different side on Wednesday when the club would host Lobi Stars FC of Makurdi in Enugu.

Wednesday’s match in Enugu is a Match Day 2 fixture in the 2017/2018 Nigerian Professional Football League (NPFL).

“Although we lost to Akwa United in Uyo, we gave our best and we have learnt a lesson from the match.

“In spite of the loss, we have resolved to take the three points at stake in the mid-week match against Lobi Stars of Makurdi on Wednesday.

“The unfortunate loss will spur the club into doing better in the fixtures ahead. We have to put the loss behind us to push for victories in other matches.

“Our set target for the season is to be in an appreciable position. I want to assure our supporters that we shall come out better,” Okolie said.

He urged the supporters to turn out for the mid-week encounter and give their maximum support to the club.
