Ogun State Commissioner for Youths and Sport, Mr. Afolabi Afuape has said that, a befitting future for the youths and the need to ensure that they are positively engaged, had brought about the aggressive developmental projects being carried out across the State.
Afuape made this assertion at the just concluded Regional National Youths Summit, jointly organised by the Osun State Government and Development Agenda for Western Nigeria (DAWN), held in Osogbo, the Osun State capital.
Afuape said the “Mission to Rebuild Ogun State” was a process, whereby, the youths were being prepared for soft landing, expressing optimism that, all the projects, after completiton, would attract more investors to the state, thus opening up more employment opportunities for them.
He noted that the concept of the programme, tagged ” How to Develop a 25 Years Master Plan for Youths Activities in Nigeria’’ was a welcome idea, maintaining that, Ogun State has always accorded priority to issues relating to the youths and would give all necessary support, with adequate mobilisation for easy coordination of memorandum.
” The theme of the summit calls for cooperation and synergy amongst all the states in the region and also the youths need to believe in themselves, workhard and shun all easy way to success as the state will always accord priority to issues relating to the youths” Commissioner said.
The Commissioner therefore appealed to the Federal government, not to delay implementing policies of the programme.
Speaking with newsmen at the sideline of the summit, the Director of Youths Development in Ogun State, Mr. Adetokunbo Salami, said the concept of the programme, was coming at the right time, when majority of the youths in the country were carefree, adding that, if the summit’s focus could be fully implemented, the future of Nigeria youths would be guaranteed in the nearest future.
