Police arrest 5 armed robbery suspects, recover stolen car in Kogi

Police:

The Kogi State Police Command on Wednesday paraded a five-man criminal gang, who allegedly robbed a man of his car and valuables.

The command also recovered the stole vehicle and valuables from the suspects after the alleged robbery.

Mr Williams Aya (ASP), the Public Relations Officer (PPRO) in the state, told newsmen that the alleged offense was committed on December 28, 2017.

Aya said the owner of the vehicle, Chris Edimeh, a resident of Naval Quarters, Lokongoma Phase II Lokoja, reported to the police that he was robbed at gun point.

He said the special anti robbery squad led by DSP Babagana Bukar, arrested the suspects.

He said the intensive operation also led to the arrest of Mohammed Kabiru, Musa Mohammed, Emmanuel Audu, Jale Yunusa.

Aya said that further investigations led to the arrest of one, Mohammed Ibrahim, from whom the vehicle with registration number GWA 672 JS was recovered in Lagos.

According to him, items recovered from the suspects included one LG Plasma TV, one home Theatre, a bag of rice, twelve assorted handsets, one single barrel gun and charms of different sizes.

The PPRO said the suspects would be prosecuted upon conclusion of investigations into the alleged offenses by the police.

One of the suspects and leader of the alleged gang, Mohammed Musa, speaking with newsmen, confessed to the crime, saying that he took to crime because he was unemployed and joblessness.

The robbery victim, Chris Edimeh, told newsmen that the incident traumatized him and his family, stressing that the suspects operated for over two hours uninterrupted and ate from his wife’s kitchen.

He said the suspects took his ATM card, went to the bank and withdrew all the money in his account.
